Have Your Wedding at The Moffitt Manor
If you live in Nashville, Birmingham or Atlanta, and you're stumped to find a wedding venue, consider going out a little further in your search and take a look at Moffit Manor in historic, Altamont, Tennessee. An 18th-century manor originally owned by a wealthy spinster named Fannie Moffitt, the 4400-foot mansion has six-bedrooms, two clawfoot tubs, two showers, a fabulous chef's kitchen, crystal chandeliers, numerous fireplaces, three family rooms a parlor, and two foyers. And oh, by the way, Moffit Manor has been completely restored to be a meticulous masterpiece.
Across the street is a park, with a gazebo, which would make a fantastic wedding location, and then pre-wedding, you can house all the bridesmaids or family. Once the wedding is complete, rather than retreating to a country club, which can be exceptionally costly, have your reception catered in the Manor, or have the owner cook a gourmet Southern meal foyou. Accommodating 16 people overnight, you can book the Moffit Manor for less than it would cost to provide the same amount of people in an expensive hotel with none of the charm of the Moffit manor, and you'll have a wedding and reception, deep in the mountains of Tennessee, that you and your loved ones will long remember.
Don't like the park across the street? There are several national parks within a short drive to Altamont or many people like the All Saints Chapel at the nearby University of the South. Altamont, itself, is a charming town of around 1,000 people, with many other attractive historical buildings. Depending upon the season, nearby, there is the annual Bigfoot Blues Fest, the Caverns, another music venue, Greeter Falls, Savage Gulf Natural Area, and not to be missed, a trip to Short Mountain Distillery, which makes small-batch, Tennessee moonshine, and bourbon. You can dance and holler at the moon at nearby Cowboys, enjoy dinner theatre at nearby Bear Hollow, or Pine Theater, and drive to Short Mountain distillery to taste the best short-batch bourbons and moonshines you'll ever eat.
And for a once in a lifetime bachelor party, while the bridesmaids have their party in the Manson, the guys can drive out to the Tennesse All-Pro Wrestling venue, where for a measly $6, the bride's father, uncles, the younger children and all of the grooms best buds can have the time of their life hooting and hollering while the pros grapple in the ring. Yes, we do things a little differently In Altamont, compared to the big city. Weddings, good food, and friends are more informal and intimate. Altamont has the type of Andy Griffth charm older adults choose to remember, and younger adults wish they could experience. So why go ultra-modern but dull at your wedding. There are many photos of Moffet Mansion on the web, and you can start by going to Moffit Manor for a more intimate view of the facilities.
