The surrounding area has activities to suit anyone's preferences! Take a glance at some ideas you can plan on for your retreat group:
Get into the great outdoors in Gatlinburg, about 3 ½ hours from The Manor. Whether it's hiking, fly fishing, white water rafting, camping, skiing, or horseback riding, your retreat group will get a rejuvenating dose of fresh air and nature in this beautiful mountain town.
Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Choose from hundreds of miles of trails or opt to tour the park in your car. There's a lot to see (wildlife, waterfalls, historic buildings, etc.), so you'll be wise to plan your day ahead of time. Sugarlands Visitors Center is a great place to start. Some spend half a day here while others take the whole day to explore. It's all up to you and your retreat group to decide!
Gatlinburg Sky Lift Park
Take a nice quiet ride to the top of Crockett Mountain, where you'll find the most spectacular scenic overlooks in the region. Enjoy a bird's eye view of the town of Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains, as well as a stroll across the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America (not recommended for those afraid of heights).
Rocky Top Wine Trail-Mountain Valley Winery
Just a twenty-minute ride from the Sky Lift, and you'll be in range for a complimentary tasting or tour of the Rocky Top Wine Trail-Mountain Valley Winery. There are a variety of German, French, and fruit wines to choose from, and whatever you do, don't miss out on a popular Wine Slushy while you're here!
If you'd prefer to head northwest from The Manor, the bustling and fast-growing city of Nashville awaits within a two-hour drive. The sky's the limit for events and activities in this town, so plan to make sure you can fit in all your favorites! Here are a few we like most:
Walkin' Nashville - Music City Legends Tour
This 90-minute walking tour takes you where the legends once roamed! Guided by Nashville resident and musician Bill DeMain, your group will visit the old stompin' grounds of Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Dolly Parton, and others, while hearing all the secrets and stories of country music's storied past.
Check out the group discounts and BYOB cruises offered for this scenic voyage down the Pioneer River. Forty-five guests can fit aboard this floating saloon, and both public and private events are available.
The Loveless Cafe
If you've worked up an appetite touring the city, head over the Loveless Cafe for some home-cooked southern cooking. This
landmark has served up to 500,000 hungry guests annually. From fried chicken and biscuits to turnip greens, pulled pork, grits, and country ham, the menu is impressive -- don't forget to sip a moonshine cocktail if you're not driving! There might be a wait for seating, but no worries -- there are two small shops to browse while you wait.
